Joy Batchelder

Medical Billing Specialist

What is your background?

I lived in a town outside of Atlanta, GA for the first 6 years of my life while my dad was in Chiropractic school. Once he graduated, we moved in with my grandparents in the Philadelphia suburbs.

Once I graduated high school, I went to college at Vet Tech Institute in Pittsburgh, PA and passed my boards exam to become a CVT. I worked as a Vet Tech for 4 1/2 years mostly in emergency for large and small animals. When a job opportunity came up at CHARGE, it made me consider a career change and the rest is history.

I have come to realize that living with my grandparents was one of the biggest blessings in my life. My Mommom and Poppop taught me so many important values; like to always be kind, honest and complete every job you're given to it's fullest. My dad, being a chiropractor, has also impacted my life in a pretty big way. He has shown me how important it is to take care of your body, physically, emotionally, and nutritionally.

What are the values that drive you?

Integrity, kindness, hard work

What do you like about working at the charge group?

Everyone works as a team, everyone's opinion is valued, and the environment is very positive and fun. To me, this is the definition of a great place to work.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I am the Delco 4-H Dairy Club leader, so many days I am at the cooperative farm doing something with my 4-H kids. I have sheep of my own that I care for. I love being with family and friends and going for hikes with my dogs. I have recently discovered rock climbing, which I think is really fun. I love woodworking and building or fixing things.

Basically, anything outdoors or hands on, i'm in!
